Described by The Guardian as 'remarkable', pianist and vocal powerhouse Vanessa Haynes presents the songs of the undisputed 'Queen of Soul', Aretha Franklin. Twice named by Rolling Stone magazine as 'the greatest singer of all time', Aretha Franklin sold over 75 million records and won 18 Grammys, in a career spanning six decades. Hits such as 'R.E.S.P.E.C.T', 'Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You)', 'Think' and 'Say a Little Prayer' are loved by generations of audiences.
Compared by UK Soul as having a voice 'combining the sting of Chaka Khan with the resonance of Aretha', Vanessa Haynes cut her teeth as backing vocalist for Van Morrison and Chaka Khan, before becoming front woman of legendary jazz funk outfit, Incognito, for 14 years. As a solo artist, Vanessa has performed to sold-out audiences at the renowned Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Porgy and Bess in Vienna, and Fasching in Stockholm. She has been featured as a soloist in several BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and EFG London Jazz Festival's opening Gala, Jazz Voice.
Vanessa and her stellar band curate a performance that combines Aretha Franklin's greatest hits and lesser-known gems, guaranteed to leave your jaw dropping and your heart pumping.
“Vanessa Haynes’ voice is nothing short of mesmerizing—soulful, powerful, and deeply moving. A standout talent in her own right.” UK Soul
