March Lunchtime Jazz: Alex Garnett Trio

Tenor saxophonist Alex Garnett has been one of the leading saxophonists in the UK and Mainland Europe for over two decades, being instantly recognized by his dark, husky sound. A versatile musician and first call sideman, he is a long-standing member of the Ronnie Scott’s All-Stars. and has enjoyed success as both a jazz artist, composer and arranger. He is also an in demand session, studio and commercial saxophonist, having racked up countless recording credits along the way.

With Paul Edis on piano and Marianne Windham double bass.

The lunchtime jazz is held in the Cafe at the Guildford Institute, which boasts a baby grand piano as well as delicious food. Food is served from 12 to 2pm, followed by live jazz performance from 2pm to 3pm

The performance is upstairs in the historic Assembly Room at The Guildford Institute, Ward St, North St, Guildford GU1 4LH

Please note there are no physical tickets, just give your name on the door when you arrive.

The café – V Café at the Institute – has been run by Nick Humble since 2019. Joined by his friendly team, they offer a welcoming space to relax, have a coffee, and enjoy delicious vegetarian and vegan lunches. The regularly changing menu is based on seasonal, locally-sourced produce. Their vegetables are grown by The Halow Project and they also offer freshly-roasted Surrey Hills coffee..
