Celebrating Guildford Heritage Open Day with an afternoon of Big Band music on Guildford Castle Bandstand showcasing two great local bands!

Junction 4

Based on the Hampshire/Surrey border, Junction 4 Big Band is a dynamic 18-piece ensemble performing everything from 1930s swing to modern chart hits including Basie, Caro Emerald, Nirvana and Pharell Williams. Junction 4 brings a set brimming with energy and style to the festival's celebration of big band music at the Castle.  

Rhythm & Groove

Rhythm and Groove Big Band is an 18-piece Big Band, based in Godalming. Formed in 2017, it has a wide repertoire of big band music, from the swing of Benny Goodman to the modern arrangements of Gordon Goodwin, with some Buddy Rich thrown-in for those who like high energy tunes. In short, from foxtrot to funk. The band is composed mainly of music graduates and professionals, who enjoy making fantastic music together, and sharing their enthusiasm for the music in live performance.

The nearest car park is Castle car park on Sydenham Road, GU1 3RW and there are also car parks at Tunsgate and Millbrook – details here – and Guildford Station is a 15-minute walk away.

Seating is not provided but you are welcome to bring garden chairs and rugs.
